This handsome, traditional dance bustle is made by Gary Redwing Hunt. Gary has used 42 genuine barred turkey feathers with 2 of them mounted on removable spikes. The bustle measures 34 inches wide x 34 inches tall with spikes reaching another 12 inches in height. The decorated cloth trailer hangs 27 inches. He uses about 184 white glass crow beads as feather spacers. Each feather is tipped with beige horse hair & the base of each feather is wrapped in white, purple, blue, yellow, red, orange & black tape. Each feather also sports 3 progressive sized leather spots. The entire bustle is accented with blue & white fluffs & a medicine wheel suspended between spikes. This bustle can be broken down for safe storage or travel. Belt loop holes not drilled out so it can be customized for fit. Backboard or rump board is made of light, durable wood covered with cloth. Gary says this bustle is very durable.
Gary is not an enrolled tribal member of the Cherokee or Sioux nations, but is descendant from each. Therefore, no legal claim of Native American authenticity may be claimed. But his native spirit is evident in the quality & style of his work.
